Welcome to the first Friday Roundup of December, and the second to last Roundup of the year. Thank you to everyone who registered for our public webinar. Unfortunately, we had to postpone this event, but keep an eye out for a new date which will be announced early next year. A reminder that the university will be closed from the 18th of December, reopening on the 11th of January. If you have any queries please contact us before then.

Mid-Autumn Festival activities wrap up for another year

Today officially wraps up a busy Mid-Autumn Festival period for us here at the Confucius Institute. Just released this morning was a Lantern Making Workshop in partnership with OzAsia Festival. More information can be found below, along with information about an exciting talk coming up as part of their 'OzAsia Talks' series this year. It is fantastic to see so much still happening despite the festival not being held in the same capacity. We can't wait to see what 2021 looks like for OzAsia Festival!

New 'OzAsia Talks' link artists from across Australia and Asia discussing the future of creativity and cultural engagement

This time of year would usually be buzzing with activity thanks to OzAsia Festival. This year they are running a series of conversations titled 'OzAsia Talks' chaired by incoming Artistic Director, Annette Shun Wah. Artists from across Australia and Asia will connect across borders to discuss the role of arts and culture – and the future of creativity and cultural engagement.

To kick off the Mid-Autumn Festival celebrations this year, in today's Chinese Conversation Corner participants will learn the origins and customs of the Mid-Autumn Festival. Those who attend can also collect a FREE Moon Cake from our office to help celebrate. On October 1st, from 12-1pm, we will also have a stall in the hub with music, activities and more mooncakes!
