This was an excellent opportunity to speak Chinese while gaining strategies and ideas for teaching in the classroom.Wednesday October 7th Immersion Morning Chinese for second language background speakers Second Wednesday of the holidays!!! This was a fantastic oppotunity to speak Chinese for 4 hours, and to practice all of our skills in a practical and immersive morning. Professional Development Opportunities in Term 1 2009Presented by Associate Professor Sheng Lin, visiting teacher at the Confucius Institute at the University of Adelaide, in conjunction with the Chinese Language Teachers' Association of South Australia. 1. Chinese for the Classroom(Primarily for teachers who learnt Chinese as a second language) Improve your fluency! Maintain your proficiency! A chance to converse in Chinese out of the classroom!! - Practical topics related to what is useful in the classroom – particularly at the primary and junior secondary levels
- Maximum time given for participants to speak in Chinese
- Workshop content and focus will be driven by input from participants
As part of their mission to support teachers of Chinese in South Australia, the Confucius Institute and the CLTASA are organising these workshops for teachers who would like an opportunity to practice their Chinese and pick up some useful ideas and language along the way. The workshops will be under the direction of Associate Professor Sheng Lin of Shandong University, the Confucius Institute’s visiting teacher. Teachers who register will be given an opportunity to select and suggest topics they would like to cover (eg sport, leisure, life, etc.) and the way they are covered (eg discussing texts, role plays, conversations, etc.). The sessions will be relaxed, supportive and very much ‘teacher’ (i.e. student) centred! For more information and a registration form see the flyer. 2.
