Chinese Language Teachers' Section

The Confucius Institute is working with schools and teachers of Chinese in South Australia to develop and provide educational programs, professional development and teaching resources.

In particular, the Confucius Institute is cooperating with the South Australian Department of Education and Children's Services (DECS), Catholic Education South Australia, the Chinese Language Teachers' Association of South Australia (CLTASA) and the Chinese Language Curriculum Studies Association (CLCSA) to support the teaching and learning of the Chinese language in Schools.

Iinformation about events and professional development opportunities for schools and teachers will be posted on these pages and circulated via the Confucius Institute Chinese teachers mailing list.

Spoken language strategies
For Lecturers from non-English speaking backgrounds. The Centre for Learning and Professional Development (CLPD) provides a course for lecturers from language backgrounds other than English, who may have concerns, or have had feedback, that their spoken English is difficult for students to understand. CLPD also provides courses for Academic staff who are new to teaching at University level.

Professional and Continuing Education
PCE offers students, staff and the community education in Chinese language and culture at beginners, intermmediate and advanced levels. Introductory, Intensive and Full-year programs are available.

English for Professionals
The Universiy of Adelaide's English Language Centre provides a part time intensive course for students who have advanced level proficiency in English (equivalence IELTS 6). The course further develops general language proficiency and develops the skills required to successfully achieve IELTS 7.
